I've been considering the issue of shotgun ammunition lately, especially as a fairly large sample has been taken in the poll on maximum ranges for 00 buckshot. I hope that is the right interpretation of the number of votes on the various ranges, though I can imagine that my screwing up the categories by not giving simple 10 yard steps might have biased the outcome. Still, it seems like there are two major camps, with most people happy with about that distance. This is opposed to 00 buckshot, with an average over 20". On the other hand, I have heard from a cop in the mid-west that they had bad experiences with 4 buckshot against large bad guys in many layers of winter clothes.
